Our journey

1996
Where It All Began

Excellent Management Limited (XML) was founded in Hong Kong with a bold vision: to bring world-class technology solutions to the travel industry. In an era when most agencies still relied on manual processes, we set out to change the game.

1997
First Footprint

Our inaugural product, the Travel Agency Integrated System (TAIS), went live at Jebsen Travel — the first integrated travel management and accounting system deployed in Hong Kong. That same year, TAIS was showcased at the International Travel Expo Hong Kong and received strong endorsement from delegates at the Abacus International Subscriber Conference in Bali.

1998
Going International

TAIS crossed borders for the first time, landing in Sydney, Australia. We also partnered with HP to sponsor TAIS software and server infrastructure for IVE Chai Wan, reinforcing our commitment to nurturing the next generation of travel professionals.

1999
The Birth of PowerSuite

TAIS was re-engineered with regional capabilities and relaunched as PowerSuite — the platform that would become our flagship. We were named a strategic partner of Abacus International and a strategic e-Commerce partner of Microsoft. PowerSuite launched commercially in October and quickly expanded into Australia, setting the stage for rapid regional growth. That same year, XML successfully delivered the first commercial application in Hong Kong, supporting over 300 concurrent users on a Microsoft NT/SQL platform — a technical milestone that demonstrated the robustness of our architecture.

2000 - 2002
Regional Momentum

PowerSuite rolled out across seven new markets — Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Brunei, Thailand, Indonesia, Shanghai and Beijing. XML was awarded the HKITCC Certificate of Merit in Technological Achievement and exhibited at the Abacus International Subscriber Conference, presenting to 850 delegates from 19 Asia-Pacific markets.

2003
Innovation Meets Purpose

We launched PowerConnect, a browser-based travel booking system designed for small-to-mid-size agencies in Hong Kong, democratising access to powerful travel technology. XML also stepped up for the community — sponsoring and developing the official "We Love HK" website to support the Tourism Coalition's efforts to rebuild Hong Kong's economy during the SARS crisis.

2004 - 2007
Smarter Desktops, Broader Reach

We introduced Integrated Desktop, Corporate Booking Solution and PowerConnect Tour Module. When the Indian Ocean Tsunami struck, we sponsored and built the official "We Care for South Asia" website to support tourism recovery efforts.

2008
High-Profile Partnerships

 

Our solutions were showcased at the Microsoft 2008 Launch Wave. PowerConnect landed in Cambodia, Macau, and Malaysia. We delivered bespoke B2B and B2C web booking engines for two major airline subsidiaries — Cathay Holidays Limited and JAL Satellite Travel Co. Ltd.

2009 - 2013
From Recognition to Reinvention

In five transformative years, XML earned global industry endorsement and redefined how travel agencies operate. Abacus International co-branded two of our core products — PowerConnect and PowerSuite Front Office — putting our technology on the map across Asia-Pacific. We launched Dynamic eService to help agencies capture online travel business, followed by its mobile booking engine and the upgraded Dynamic eService 2.0.  PowerSuite Web Mid Office brought cloud-based operations to market, with the first Hong Kong agency going live in 2013.  We celebrated our 15th anniversary with more momentum than ever.

2014
Anytime, Anywhere Ticketing

We launched the Quick Ticketing Module, empowering sub-agents to issue tickets on their own terms — anytime, anywhere. PowerSuite Web Mid Office expanded into Indonesia, and the Dynamic eService Mobile App hit the market.

2018 - 2019
The Cloud Is Ready. So Are We

XML stepped into the next era of travel retail with the launch of iNet Leisure, a turnkey online booking engine built to drive direct-to-consumer sales for travel agencies. The platform quickly earned industry recognition — Sabre officially endorsed and rebranded it as Sabre eCommerce Leisure. At the same time, PowerSuite Cloud launched in Australia and New Zealand, giving agencies a modern, scalable platform to streamline operations without the overhead of on-premise infrastructure.

2020 - 2022
Resilience Through the Cloud

While the travel industry navigated its most challenging period, XML pressed forward. PowerSuite Cloud expanded across the Asia-Pacific region, and we partnered closely with our existing customers to migrate from legacy PowerSuite server environments to the cloud — ensuring business continuity, operational flexibility, and readiness for the recovery ahead. When travel came back, our agencies were already running on a future-proof platform.

2023 - 2026
Deeper Reach. Smarter Service

Travel is back — and XML is moving faster than ever. We expanded across the region, launched Corporate Online Platform to give agencies a self-service portal for their corporate clients, and developed PowerSuite Web App to integrate seamlessly with Sabre's latest agency workspace. More markets. More capability. More ways to keep our partners ahead.

Looking Ahead

Nearly three decades, multiple markets, and thousands of travel professionals — and we're just getting started. With PowerSuite AI Assistant on the horizon, we're bringing intelligent automation and real-time insights directly into our agents' workflow — turning data into decisions and routine tasks into instant actions. Our mission has never changed: build technology that makes travel businesses faster, smarter, and more competitive. The best milestones are still ahead.
